Colour pencil - self promo piece

I rarely choose colour pencil as i prefer the fluidity of water colour and the vibrancy of acrylic....for one of my self promo piece for my graphic design business, The Creative Dept, I chose colour pencil to achieve the soft and warm effect...just for variety

Past commercial works - Hotel Sedona

Long long time ago....when my graphic design business was handling the Hotel Sedona account, I had the opportunity to do several paintings and even a paper sculpture to promote the hotel to travel agents around the world...it was so exciting...I love my job!

This is part 1, day time and the next one on the way is part 2, night time featuring a colourful merlion and fullerton hotel...hope it brings some nice scenary that is missing in piNK for my dear Ling Ling :)

wayang

I started painting this series of Chinese Wayang when I was 12 because I used to be stuck watching Chinese street opera with my mom way too often...but one good thing came out from it...one of my opera paintings won the international supreme gold art competition organised in Japan and was exhibited around the world. With that, I got my art scholarship in an art school in London which unfortunately my family forbid me to go....oh well....

I noticed that my painting style keeps getting younger as i get older!

Not just on canvas!

Finding an available wall to put up my painting in my house is no easy task, most of my walls are used up to display my hubby's toys....so i thought, why not start painting my furniture as well...so that's what i did to my grandfather's stool! it's not boring brown anymore!

Butterflies came alive!

i did this set of three paintings for my master bedroom. The inspiration came from my lovely curtains that my lovely sister did for me ( jazz it up) where you will see the same butterflies. How many butterflies do you see? two or four?

'jaw dropping' mouse

My son, Javon sketched this cute 'jaw dropping' mouse for me when i told him that i wanted a cute mouse staring at dad's massive toy collection when our guests first step into our new house. He immediately gave me this amazing sketch and so i have to paint it...it's now hanging next to our main door. So happy that my boy has my art genes too, just like his brother, jared.

My first fair!

It has been too long since my last post! wanted to build up my portfolio with more paintings first. This is my first fair where i displayed some of my paintings and even painted there as well. Attracted some visitors to my booth and got some lovely cute kids watching me paint...will take part in more in the future :)

The photo of the painting is the one that was completed at the fair, it quickly became payment for the booth because it is now hanging on my sister's bedroom wall....afterall she paid for the booth...

'Sisterly Love'

My dearest friend Noelle from jam commissioned me to do a painting for her two lovely daughters' room, she originally wanted a pair of butterflies but i suggested to include the girls as cartoons as well. Aiming to capture the bonding between the two girls and also the likeness of the girls as well. Thank you Noelle and Elson for your support to budding hearts, hope your girls like the painting.36" x36" acrylic on canvas.

Another commissioned piece - 'JUMP!'

When sebes asked me to come up another painting for his place, i immediately thought of contemporary dancers, something that he can truly appreciate! So i captured the passion and beauty of dancers jumping in mid air all at the same time, yet each holding a pose...isn't it amazing how dancers can do that? His only request is to have the paintings predominently in red and gold(for good fengshui), and as you can see, those are the background colours. Hope he loves them! Sebes, thank you once again for your support...you certainly helped in budding hearts' steady growth!

Past commercial works

Before i gathered enough guts to start 'budding hearts', i have been painting commercially for my design house's (The Creative Dept) clients. My favourite medium is water colour...here are some of the paintings that were featured in our design works.

D.O.T.S

Daisy's Original Total Series - that's what D.O.T.S stands for...it was my long time dream to start a series of paintings using 'water-colour dotting' technique that is pretty unique and develop them into a whole series of fashion and household items featuring the paintings....just like Ken Done...my idol! These are some examples of pieces I have done with this technique...hope one day, my dream will come true :)

My FIRST commissioned piece!

Sebes, the guy who teaches me how to boogie every week is the first to commission a painting from me. He specified a huge, wise, gentle tortoise with a huge shell and four legs firmly on the ground for his office for good fengshui and i hope my work has met all his criteria and brings him loads of health, wealth and wisdom :) its a huge order literally, its AO size, i.e. 3 feet x 4 feet!

Looks like he is one happy customer! will be doing two more paintings for his new home...coming soon...thank you for his support :)

"under the sea"

Two Christmases ago, we reupholstered our living room sofa set to a sea theme and that inspired me to do a new painting with matching theme. To blend into our colourful house, this childlike style is the perfect fit.

"busy dizi"

This painting was done in 2004, it flows over three canvasses and the busy bee has always been my signature mascot since my childhood. I got the nickname 'busy dizi' cos i am always multi-tasking and soon i created this little cute bee as my mascot. when i finally got our dream home, this was done to adorn my living room.

"You're my sunshine"

"You are my sunshine" is my tribute to GOD's beautiful creation. I am always fascinated with sunflowers, they are so majestic and amazing, see how they are almost flowing out of the painting cos they are soooo huge? water-colour. please email me at buddinghearts@gmail.com for comments and queries.

"Flaming Hearts"

"Flaming Hearts" is done with passion...my painting truly is a reflection of my mood at that point in time. This is a watercolour piece. Please email me at buddinghearts@gmail.com if you want to know more about this piece.

"Kiss the frog"

"Kiss the frog" is under my 'un-me' series, i love all colours, bright bright colours...but not black...so i have injected some of me by planting a little quirkiness into the painting...yes, the little frog with the big big eyes waiting to be turned into a prince. now, it's truly 'art from my heart'. 16" x 12" acrylic on canvas. Please email me at buddinghearts@gmail.com for pricing and comments.
